Defender Cabinet Restore

 I was happy to get my FREE* arcade cabinet today, and even more pleased to discover that it was Double Dragon! I spent hours playing this at the 7-11 with my friends. A standard JAMMA cabinet should help with the conversion to MAME.


As you can see, the cabinet is pretty beat up. The control panel is quite damaged by cigarettes, though I shouldn't complain because I am guilty of the same thing.


The first thing I wanted to do was get the coin door open. After a few minutes with a screwdriver and paper clip, I had the lock open. One of the coin slots was jammed, but I was able to pull out a piece of unidentifiable ... uh .... substance, and the quarters started to pass through. The power going to the coin slot and return lights were cut, and the three buttons on the right of the picture below are connected to nothing. I removed the lock.

The speaker grill is broken and the speaker is destroyed. Looking at the bad paint job and the non-fitting marquee, I'm guessing this isn't the first game this cabinet has seen.
